Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to apply for the weekend visitor assistant position advertised on your museum's website. I recently attended your exhibition on the town's railway history and particularly enjoyed the personal accounts from former railway workers. I would welcome the opportunity to help other visitors find their way around the museum and engage with its collections. For the past year, I have volunteered at a community arts centre on Saturday afternoons. My responsibilities include welcoming groups, checking booking records and answering visitor enquiries about events and facilities. When several groups arrive together, I confirm their bookings before directing them to the appropriate rooms. This has given me practice in explaining information clearly while keeping track of practical details. I believe these skills would be useful when assisting your museum's visitors. My current volunteering commitment ends on 31 October, so I could start on the first weekend of November. From then on, I would be available on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I am also available for an interview on Wednesday afternoons or Friday mornings before that date.
