The bar graph and the table data present a comparison of export earnings in five product categories for a particular country between 2015 and 2016, and the percentage change in value for each category during that period. As is obvious, export values rose in four out of the five sectors, while only the gems and jewellery category experienced a decline. Although petroleum products and engineered goods remained the dominant export categories in both years, the textile sector recorded a substantial percentage growth. In 2015, the country generated roughly 61 billion dollars from petroleum exports and around $58 billion from engineered goods – the two highest earning categories. By 2016, these figures increased to approximately $63 billion and $62 billion, respectively, representing growth of about 3% for petroleum and 8.5% for engineered goods. In contrast, agricultural exports showed only a marginal increase from about $31 billion in export earnings to $32 billion in export earnings. The textiles category climbed from approximately $27 billion to about $31 billion, achieving the highest rate of increase at over 15%. Meanwhile, the gems and jewellery sector decreased from around $43 billion in 2015 to about $41 billion in 2016, marking a percentage decline of just above 5%. The data illustrate that while established export categories continued to dominate in value for this country during the given period, faster growth occurred in sectors such as textiles.
